Gran Via Hotel - Presentation
Built in 1870 as a palace for the Serra-Chopitea family, the building that hosts the Granvía Hotel was converted into a hotel in 1935. Today it still stores countless pieces and works of art from the 19th century, making it at once a distinguished, elegant and unique hotel. The Granvía Hotel has 53 rooms, each one unique, and all fit with the finest architectural details, a TV and reading room, free Internet access (ADSL Broadband) in the Business Center, a terrace garden of 500m2 and public parking just 20m away. The hotel also invites you to host conferences and parties, in any one of its 3 conference rooms that can accommodate up to 100 people.

My wife and me spent a week at this hotel in Nov. The hotel is very conveniently located offering a short walk to Catalunya nd the Gaudis. The hotel staff was extraordinary helpful, esp Carlos who helped us with everything – giving us directions, guiding us about the city and how to obtain discounts. The hotel rooms are worn out and old though and need improvements. They need to put coffee maker also in the rooms as it is a necessity. The terrace and salon of the hotel, however are very charming. Since we were staying for a longer duration, we got a good deal. I would recommend this place.
I stayed here for 3 nights. The location of the hotel is superb and perfect for seeing the city, by bus, by train or by foot. Lot so tourist spots a re at a walking distance and for the spots far away, the bus and metro stops are at your doorstep. Lots of places to eat around, the La Bombeta cafe was awesome. The hotel is quite dated and old and very basic but the staff is excellent. I would recommend staying here as the room is just used for sleeping when you are on a vacation.
The best part about this hotel is its location as it gives you an easy access to visit all touristic attractions. The ‘hop on hop off’ bus is a great way to see the tourist sites in a cheap way. We live in US and if we would have been expecting the same facilities as available in US hotels, we surely would have been disappointed. But we were not expecting much as we had gone on a vacation and just needed a basic room to rest at night. This hotel gives the feel of an old Spanish mansion. The US currency being down at that time made it a good deal for us. The staff was very warm and I would stay there again.
